This graphic-novel anthology consists of different stories that envision the end of the world on Dec 21st, 2012.
The first story, FINAL CHOICES, has a guy sitting on a bench saying that the end of the world will be different for each person, that they'll basically be determining their own demise. The next, brief story has a guy shooting his family so they don't have to witness the end--and in the last panel see that there are indeed monsters outside. In a time travel story, scientists send a guy to the future to see if there will indeed be a doomsday. The goofiest tale, which has an E.C. Comic feel to it, is BIRD'S EYE VIEW. In it, a shuttle crew witnesses the end of the Earth--and they see a giant bird hatch from the planet, as if it were an egg. In a story that takes place the day after Dec 21st, a guy shows up in a town and kills a few zombie-like creatures masquerading as humans. The book ends with six very short stories which also vary in tone.
To be honest, I only liked a few of the stories. I think a big problem is that while they all revolve around the idea of the world ending on 2012 the stories are too different from each other, proposing different endings or beginnings for humanity. They are separate from each other, not in the same "Universe" as it were. As a result, many of the tales seem redundant. I also didn't like that the book finished with the short stories--I was reading a graphic novel and all of a sudden it changes to a regular book, which threw me off since I was in the mind-set for a graphic novel. This book is by no means terrible but it's not exceptional either.
